PEMBUATAN BIODISEL DARI BIJI KAPUK RANDU (Ceiba pentandra L.) DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN KATALIS CaO/Al2O3
Biodiesel Production from Kapok Seeds (Ceiba Pentandra L) Using CaO/Al2O3 Catalyst
Abstract
Kapok seed oil has feasibility as a sustainable biodiesel feedstock due to its simple cultivation and short harvesting time of about 4-5 months. Kapok seeds contain oil that can be extracted and utilized as a high-value product. The research stage begins with the collection of kapok seed samples, then drying, pulverizing and distillation process of kapok seed oil using CaO/Al2O3 catalyst. Making Biodiesel from Kapok Seeds (Ceiba pentandra L.) by Using CaO/Al2O3 Catalyst to produce biodiesel oil from kapok seeds is good and able to overcome several problems related to the use of alternative energy. The results showed that the temperature and catalyst variables used were very influential on the results of biodiesel transesterification in this study, including the impact on the characteristics of biodiesel obtained with each average value in this study including yield of 60.33%, density with a value of 1,012.783 g/ml, and viscosity of 2.25 cSt.
