Efektivitas Biofilter Dari Media Sedotan Plastik Untuk Penyisihan Limbah Cair Rumah Potong Hewan Kota Banda Aceh
The Effectiveness Of Pipettes Waste Biofilter Media For The Removal Of Slaughterhouse Wastewater In Banda Aceh
Abstract
The results of wastewater analysis from Banda Aceh slaughterhouse (RPH) still contain high organic substances that have the potential to pollute the environment if discharged directly into water bodies. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of slaughterhouse wastewater removal in BOD, COD and TSS parameters by using biofilter technology of plastic pipettes media. The biofilter design consists of an equalization pond, an anerobic biofilter with an elongated ring media of plastic pipettes arranged on an angle and a container for the products. The RPH wastewater sample was taken from discharge pipe and then the biofilter media was acclimatized for 30 days to form a biofilm surface. The variation in contact time was measured from day zero after equalization to day 6. The results showed that the biofilter was able to reduce the BOD value from 462.92 mg/L to 33.333 mg/L, with efficiency 92.97%; COD value decreased from 2,031.48 mg/L to 100 mg/L, efficiency 95.07%; and TSS decreased from 270 mg/L to 0.162 mg/L, efficiency 99.94%. The anaerobic biofilter technology designed is proven to be able to decompose BOD, COD and TSS and has met the waste water quality standards set by the government.
